How to find us
Public Transport:
There is a good, regular bus service between Plymouth, Yelverton and Tavistock by Stagecoach, (Service 1 & X1) which will drop you at Yelverton shops. For the two days of the Event, there will be a vintage bus service running a shuttle service between Yelverton and the the show site. If you prefer to walk, simply go across the road onto the Airfield and head for the flags!
By car:-
N.B. Access to Knightstone Archives & Tea Rooms will be maintained but parking will be restricted on the open Moor nearby, for disabled and exhibitor traffic only. We are providing a marked off area for free public car parking (on grass) alongside the show site and accessible parking on a section of the perimeter road which will give easy access to the show site, especially if using a buggy or wheelchair. The road on the airfield between Knightstone and Whistley will be CLOSED to all through traffic during the two days of the event.
From Plymouth:
Drive North from Plymouth and head for the Moors following signs for Tavistock and/or Yelverton. On approaching Yelverton, you will see the ‘1940s Event’ signs on the left, on either side of the road that takes you to Buckland Monachorum. This is also where you turn in to get to the famous ‘Rock’.
You can either park in the dispersal bays down past the Rock and then walk across to our event, or follow the yellow signs which will take you to the car park near Knightstone Archives & Tea Rooms.
For the accessible parking, follow the marked diversion signs which will take you into the top end of our site. It is marked ‘Road Closed’ but access is maintained for parking, which is available in the dispersal bays. ALL car parks are free.
From Okehampton/Tavistock direction:
Follow the A386 from Tavistock towards Plymouth. Either proceed to the Rock junction (as above) but those with local knowledge may wish to turn off after Yelverton roundabout and follow our signs to the (free) accessible car park at Axtown, or proceed around to Knightstone Archives & Tea Rooms.
